Last Post to this Blog

The CUESD has installed a new Internet security system for our schools for 2011-2012.

Unfortunately, it blocks access to Blogger blogs.

Therefore, there is no point in continuing this blog if it cannot be easily read by our faculty and staff.

Accelerated Reader Quizzes - Maywood Middle School

Our Maywood Middle School, Grades 6-8, has 7,259 Accelerated Reader (AR) Quizzes for our students to use. Our collection of AR quizzes includes books with AR reading levels from 3 to 12.

Parents and students can use the online database of our AR Quizzes. They can search for AR Quizzes by author, title, subject, AR reading level, AR points, fiction and non-fiction, and by reading interest levels.

Our Maywood Middle School Library has all books with AR Quizzes marked on the inside and outside of the book.

Reading - Houghton Mifflin

I noticed on Kevin Mathiesen's webpage a link to Kid's Place Houghton Mifflin Reading.

You click on the grade level button for 1st to 6th grade, and enter tutorials for reading lessons. There is a word game for each lesson, vocabulary, and author information. These activities are, of course, keyed to chapters in the Houghton Mifflin reading textbooks used at our schools.

The graphics display of the games is simple, small, and left justified. They should work on anyone's screen - even for those on dial up connections with small screens.

Library Resources

Elementary School teachers and librarians might enjoy Library Games.
Kathleen Fox has created a website for monthly ideas and activities, free printable materials and interviews with talented Media Specialists creating amazing programs at their schools.

Each of our five Corning Union Elementary School District School Libraries have their own website.

Here is a photo of our 2010-2011 school library staff. We are all part-time employees. From left to right: Mrs. Morales, Ms. Pritchett, Mrs. Gill, Mrs. Anderson, and Mr. Garofalo.

Woodson Elementary School Drupal Website Online

We are gradually moving each of our school websites into the Drupal Content Management System website software.

The older, simple and functional Woodson website was moved to a new webserver in September, 2010. We also moved from the old domain name (www.cuesd.tehama.k12.ca.us) to our new domain name (www.cuesdwoodosn.org). The District website also moved from the old domain name (www.cuesd.tehama.k12.ca.us) to our new district level domain name (www.corningelementary.org).

Our new Woodson Elementary School website is now at: http://woodsoncuesd.org/

Woodson teachers and staff will be trained in using Drupal in April, 2011.

Searching for Information on the Internet

"I wanted to let you know that I've been using your Searching for Information on the Internet webpage for my students. I'm a teacher working on resource pages and your page had a lot of great stuff I could use.

Anyway, I also wanted to let you know of an article that I have also been referencing in my class, a great resource page for kids on outdoor activities, that one of my 4th graders found. I figured you might have a use for it as an additional resource link on your page above. Plus I would love to show her that the page she found is incorporated on your page. :) Let me know what you think!

Thanks Again! Sincerely, Beth Parsons"

Thanks, Beth, and I added the webpage you referenced.
